Acid reflux develops in a person when the hydrochloric acid present in the stomach of a person rises to the esophagus. It is a tube which helps in connecting the throat and the stomach. When the esophageal valve that connects the esophagus and the stomach doesn’t shut properly. The gastric juice ends up spilling the pipe in the upward. When there is an improper level of acid left in the stomach it results in various unpleasant symptoms.

Certain foods which you must avoid to stay away from acid reflux are :-

However, most of the foods on the list are favorite among many people. A sacrifice is mandatory to reduce the frequency of acid reflux. Once the metabolic balance has been established and reflux is a no longer great concern, then you can eat your favorite foods again however in moderation.

Meat –You should avoid marbled sirloin, buffalo wings, ground beef, and chicken nuggets. Include in your diet steak, egg whites, extra-lean ground beef, skinless chicken breast and fish with no added fats.

Vegetables –Avoid fried potatoes and raw onions. Include in your diet baked potatoes, peas, cabbage, green beans, and broccoli.

Fruits –Certain foods to avoid are Kumquats, lemon, tomatoes, cranberry juice, lemonade, and grapefruit juice. Moreover, consume apple juice, apples, melons, watermelons, and bananas.

Grain items –Avoid spaghetti with sauce and macaroni and cheese. Furthermore, consume bran or oatmeal, cereal, crackers, pretzels, cornbread, rice cakes, and brown or white rice.

Dairy products increase the risk of acid reflux –Avoid ice cream, milkshakes, cottage cheese, and sour cream. In addition, consume low-fat soy cheese, fat-free cream cheese, fat-free sour cream, and goat milk cheese.

Dessert items –Moreover, avoid brownies, high-fat butter cookies, doughnuts, potato chips, chocolates, and corn chips. Consume jelly beans, fat-free cookies, baked potato chips, and red licorice.

Beverages –Avoid Coffee (decaffeinated or regular), liquor, wine, and tea. You can consume mineral water and certain fruit juices.
